Tarzan Should Steer Clear Of Akufo-Addo

By Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., Ph.D.

The man woefully lacks any sense of shame, and so I would not even attempt to reason with him on the sublime level of ethics or morality. But one thing is quite certain, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey is a comical rascal for presuming to suggest how Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ought to be conducting his affairs in the wake of the scandalous travesty that was the Atuguba-led Supreme Court dismissal of the 2012 presidential election petition (See "Let Akufo-Addo Enjoy His Political Break - Tarzan" JoyOnline.com/Ghanaweb.com 9/13/13).

First of all, as a legally suspended member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Wereko-Brobbey, were he half the intelligent man that he loudly claims to be, would have been quietly serving out his punishment even as he did some serious soul-searching, instead of obnoxiously presuming to add insult to injury by mischievously pretending to be a constructive and well-meaning, albeit unsolicited, political adviser of Nana Akufo-Addo.

Really, if anybody needs dvice on how to conduct his affairs responsibly, that person is definitely the rambunctious and hateful nephew of the late Mr. Victor Owusu, the abysmally failed Popular-Front Party presidential candidate in the 1979 general election. It clearly appears that Tarzan's newly found pet aversion is to see NPP faithful trooping to the private residence of the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, in a strenous and vehement bid to prevailing on Nana Akufo-Addo to rescind his decision to taking a break from active participation in national politics, at least for the nonce.

And so, predictably, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey's advice is for Nana Akufo-Addo to pack up bag and baggage, as it were, and scurry out of the country for vacation abroad. Well, Tarzan is entitled to his morbid aversion for the former NPP-MP for Akyem-Abuakwa South. Still, the question that craves asking is whether Tarzan, as Dr. Wereko-Brobbey is popularly called, has purchased a plane ticket to enable his arch-nemesis fly out of the country. And also whether the chief policy analyst of the so-called Ghana Institute of Public Policy Options (GIPPO) has booked and fully paid for the necessary accommodation to enable Nana Akufo-Addo fulfill Dr. Wereko-Brobbey's dream of completely having his inveterate enemy keep himself out of sight and mind, as it were.

If, indeed, the vacuously pontifical nephew of the late Mr. Victor Owusu is so miffed by the admittedly daunting sight of party faithful swarming the private Nima residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, then why doesn't Dr. Wereko-Brobbey set up a cordon or barricade around Nana Akufo-Addo's residence, such as was reportedly done by the Mahama security forces in the lead-up to the judicial circus that was the handing down of the Supreme Court decision upholding Dr. Afari-Gyan's fraudulent declaration of his paymaster as the winner of Election 2012? For I am quite certain that Nana Akufo-Addo has absolutely no need, whatsoever, for the sort of sloppy and invidious mucus that parades as public policy analyses by the so-called Ghana Institute of Public Policy Options.
