Stick to what works for you in marriage

Married couple Married couple

Her marriage is actually 11years old…and that is why it took us (her friends) by surprise when she emphatically told us that she is bored with her husband-a man we all see as a good provider and a decent man.

My friend tells me that in all of the 11years that she’s been married to him, that he never mentioned I love you to her-not even for one day. She stated further that the highest he does whenever she makes an attempt to play love with him was chuckle.

I knew something must have triggered that state of mind in her and I did a bit of nosing around…my fears were confirmed. She is friends with a young couple that just moved into the neighborhood and guess what their anthem is? Honey, My love, I love you.

Surprisingly, most of us are like that; we tend to manage our affairs (especially relationships) using others’ yard stick. Some of us are yet to find out what really works for us and just stick to that.

A marriage that has survived eleven whole years can’t be said to be a child’s play, yet she got carried away by the romantic theatrics of those that have not even been married for up to eight months, and suddenly realized that her husband of eleven years is not romantic…Laugh nor gree me see road o.

He might not really be the type that verbalizes (and most African men are NOT!) I LOVE YOU but he does it in other ways, I see the tender look in his eyes when he looks at her, the gentle manner in which he speaks to her and the one that marvels us all is that –he never denies her anything…as long as he can afford it.

I do not know any other I LOVE YOU that could be more than all these…what is a verbalized I LOVE YOU without action?

One should stick to what works for him or her, so long as you make efforts to spice things up every now and then and improving yourself as much as possible.

It is fool hardy to begin to see your relationship from the perspective of everyone that comes your way. People are different and we express ourselves differently. People’s actions (Body language gestures) are to be taken more serious than their words!
