So Long For Gabby’s Empty Pride!

It is really interesting to hear Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko, a Director of the so-called Danquah Institute telling the host of Joy FM’s ‘Newsfile’ programme last Saturday that “When you want us to have an intellectual programme like this, you don’t bring people like this…(referring to Deputy Minister for Science & Environment, Dr. Omane Boamah).

Gabby, by his statement, has shown that he is a chip of the old block of mate me hu politicians who sabotaged Ghana’s independence, frustrated Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s developmental agenda for Ghana and connived with the CIA to overthrow him. Like Nana Asante Bediatuo, he believes that speaking English with a cockney accent, or having had part of his education in Europe or the U.S., makes him intellectually superior to others. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s description of the Busia-Danquah stock, in his book, DARK DAYS IN GHANA, fits Gabby so much. Dr. Nkrumah writes;

“…they are imbued with British traditions. Most of them receive at least part of their education in Britain. They returned to their native country as if in blinkers, seeing and judging everything in Oxbridge terms. They saw the liberation struggle as a movement to be conducted slowly and ‘respectably’ by themselves, the professional and intellectual elite, and as having nothing to do with the toiling masses whom they regarded with a mixture of fear and scorn”

So long for Gabby! Since he thinks, like Nana Akufo-Addo and Nana Asante Bediatuo that speaking LAFA (Locally Acquired Foreign Accent) is a mark of intellectualism, then let pigs eat shame and men eat dung! The people of Ghana do not have time to waste on such intellectual gymnastics, arrogance and empty pride!
