Shut up, cry baby Amaliba!

Abraham Amaliba Abraham Amaliba

You see, Abraham Amaliba is a man without a constituency even in his own ethnic stronghold of the Bawku enclave of the Upper-East Region in which he was born and raised.

And so he can only be fooling himself when he publicly asserts that “Ghana will burn,” if Mrs. Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), is legitimately removed from office, should the corruption charges brought against her by some EC petitioners be found to bear judicial scrutiny (See “Amaliba Should Stop His Nonsense – SefaKayi” Kasapafmonline.com / Ghanaweb.com 12/14/17).

Last December, for example, when he massively lost a parliamentary election in the Bawku neighborhood in which he grew up, Mr. Amaliba’s first reaction, and a gratuitous one, to be certain, was to virulently accuse the voters who righteously denied him their mandate of tribalism.

The fact of the matter is that this National Democratic Congress’ political scam-artist has absolutely no credibility. Amaliba is a fraud; he is only hoping that Mrs. Osei would retain her post at all costs, so that the Mahama Posse could scheme their way back into the Flagstaff House come Election 2020 and then, for his part, back to business as usual guzzling the public dole at the National Petroleum Corporation (NPC), on whose board this desperado sat for some four protracted years.

My concern here, though, is the fact that the leadership of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has yet to call this pathological troglodyte – or caveman – to account. The fact of the matter is that being licensed to practice law in any civilized modern society comes with certain responsibilities, not the least of which is the avoidance of the reckless incitement to violence and hatred. In this instance, the notorious legal team member of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been beating war drums because he clearly seems to believe that Electoral Commissioner Osei was put in charge of the EC by former President John Dramani Mahama with the sole and express objective of rigging elections in favor of the NDC.

Otherwise, Mr. Amaliba would be more focused on the validity or merit of the six allegations that the former Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is expected to shortly answer before Chief Justice Sophia AB Akuffo and the Judicial Council. It is the bounden obligation of the Ghana Bar Association to have Mr. Amaliba’s membership promptly and summarily suspended and possibly also have the legal license of this warmonger suspended.

Screaming for civil society organizations, pressure groups, think-tanks and prominent Ghanaian citizens like Justice Emile Short and Professor Emmanuel Martey, the retired Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, who, by the way, Mr. Amaliba has absolutely no respect for,to step into the fray, clearly indicates the fact that Mr. Amaliba lacks an adequate sense of the workings of the law and has absolutely no right passing himself off as a bar-certified legal practitioner.

If, indeed, Mr. Amaliba is convinced that Mrs. Osei has done absolutely nothing wrong, then the most progressive and wise thing for him to do is for Mr. Amaliba to join Mrs. Osei’s legal defense team. As it stands, his rowdy and downright violent behavior is doing more harm to his cause and the defense and integrity of the embattled EC Chair.
