Possible causes of sea erosion
When winds and sand moves from shore to shore deposit it somewhere that process causes sea erosion. The sand could move to another beach or deeper ocean bottom. However constant removal of such deposits is a danger to all the surrounding villages with cut to little communication and infrastructure they may have. This reshapes the landscape of an entire coastline.
What are we doing to stop this?
Could compulsory plantation cover help perhaps? For example, having coconut plantations or palm trees planted all along our coastal side to prevent the transfer of sand from one beach to the other beaches.
One hears in the news that the areas around the coastal lines of Srogboe, Dzita and Anyanui this is happening and it is frightening for people living along these area. I am sure other areas along our coastal areas are facing the same predicaments. The Keta Sea defence is excellent and perhaps those strategies must be shared so that the coastal lines are protected and secured from such mishaps.
