Nana Akufo-Addo In Stable Condition

By Nana Akua Tweneboah-Koduah

Unimpeachable information has it that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who was flown out of the country under mysterious circumstances last Tuesday to the United Kingdom (UK) for medical treatment is now in stable condition.

But the doctors who attended to him have advised that he should not make any hasty trip back to Ghana since he is still under the weather. Therefore, Nana Akufo-Addo’s return to Ghana by Tuesday is up in the air.

Nana Akufo-Addo who went to the UK with his special doctor was rushed to a hospital in London very sick and it took hours before his condition was stabilized.

The doctors wanted to admit him but Nana Akufo-Addo’s special doctor and his aides refused claiming that if he is admitted chances are that somebody from Ghana will see him and leak out the information to the detriment of the patient.

Nana Akufo-Addo is currently recuperating at an undisclosed location in London while doctors take turns to further attend to him.

Nana Akufo-Addo is believed to have suffered a mild heart attack which led to his being flown from Ghana by chartered flight to the UK via Germany.

As a result, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is the first petitioner in the on-going Supreme Court (SC) petition case in which the NPP is challenging the results of the 2012 Presidential Election, was conspicuously missing in court when the case entered Day 28 last week Wednesday.

But Mr Herbert Krapa, the Press Aide of Nana Akufo-Addo, issued a strange statement claiming that Nana Akufo-Addo has left to the UK with his wife Rebecca, for “scheduled engagements including his regular medical check-up”.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s supposed scheduled engagements which appear to be unscheduled did not make any sense to most Ghanaians in view of the fact that the SC case is on-going; therefore it raised a lot of eyebrows.

Why will Nana Akufo-Addo’s supposed scheduled engagements be a big deal for the NPP to issue a statement to announce it? What is Nana Akufo-Addo’s status in Ghana today apart from being the twice defeated presidential candidate in the 2008 and 2012 elections?

The NPP claimed that Nana Akufo-Addo went to the UK for scheduled engagements and will be away for one week. If indeed Nana Akufo-Addo has some scheduled engagements why is it that Ghanaians have been kept in the dark about those engagements and we have so far not heard anything about him since he left Ghana?

When President John Mahama left for the 14-day trip abroad which took him to several countries including Ethiopia, France and Japan among others, we all knew about his schedule and indeed got reportage on his activities. Therefore, why is Akufo-Addo’s case different to the extent that there is total blackout on his supposed scheduled engagements?

If the statement by the NPP on Akufo-Addo’s supposed scheduled engagements in the UK are not bogus it can make you laugh if you do read between the lines. The NPP claims that Akufo-Addo will be away for one week. We live to see if he will be back to court by Tuesday June 11.

Nobody wish any harm for Nana Akufo-Addo. You will not even want your supposed enemy to come to any harm, but the way the NPP beat the hell out of the late President John Mills when he went to the United States for medical treatment has compelled them to shroud that of Akufo-Addo’s in secrecy with explanations that leave many questions.

In case you have forgotten, it is this same time last year that former President Mills went to the United States for this last medical check-up which raged a lot of storm in the NPP’s tea cups.
