Sage Of Cell Phones In Public Schools Will Cause Much More Problems!

On the 6th of July 2010, Tuesday there was an article written by one Mr Akesseh
Solomon Amanzulley of which I would want to address I would also like to state that
the writer is a dear friend of mine and we both did go to the same school in the
central region!
I am going to be very honest and unless we fail to look at things from the right
perspective we would jump into something that will make quite a mess and regulating
will become a huge problem
yes its true that most of the points that are raised on why cell phones should not
be used are bogus but it will totally be weird to tell e that students using cell
phones will have no negative effect.. with such kind of arguments i can never
concur.
1.this is Ghana we are talking about and to be honest we are no where near the 19th
century to even talk about the 21st.. we know very well how usage of phone is more
than fashion than its intended use... where to an average teenager is what who has
and what who uses and which brand and how much expensive it is that matters instead
of a simple sms or receiving a call. i must admit though that perhaps some developed
countries mustn also have this problem.
2. any Ghanaian would know the situation in most of our public schools and having
students coming in from all walks of life different back grounds. I clearly recall
just the name of TEMA or Accra or even Kumasi made a student superior to another
coming in from TIKOBO no.2. most of these boarding schools have high theft rate and
bullying rate which nothing is being done to curb it and having cell phones around I
wouldn't want to imagine the amount of madness that will be going on in dormitories.
Now you wouldn't want a Senior bullying you to go make transfer for him neither
would u want a senior asking you to use your phone which has your credit to make a
call to his girl friend whom probably he has never seen before. and as result having
you leave your phone with him just because his girl friend might call him back...
3.Even as a parent would youu want your child to be calling you asking for phone top
ups? though he or she might never even call you except flashing you to call him?
4.then comes the requests from numerous girls also asking their unemployed "student
boy friends" to top up their phones with credit for them and teenage boys as stupid
as they are would also oblige... now imagine a senior bullying you to use your money
to top up his girlfriends phone?
5.then comes the serious part! most recent phones happen to have what we call
storage that allows certain types of data mostly of which is music, files and movies.
most phone users store music and movies on their phones and use during their leisure
times. now lets be real here for once. boys...boys school.....phones..latest music
different varieties of pornographic materials!
To end it all Ghana is not Japan neither is it China lets see the situation as they
are and be honest with ourselves, the use of cell phones will cause harm to most
students than good. it has nothing to do with the 21st century or failing to embrace
technology. if we think deep enough we will know where our stand is and not try to
copy blindlylets not add more distraction rather than the countless ones we have.
