Effective communication is no longer about speaking the loudest; it is about speaking with clarity, credibility, and expertise. As our branch grows, the issues we engage with have become more complex, yet our communication structures have not kept pace.
This is why I am proposing the Sector-Based Communications Advisory Model (SBCAM) as the centrepiece of my vision for the Communications Office of the UK Branch.
SBCAM is built on a simple idea: assign the right expertise to the right issues. Our branch is full of professionals educators, health workers, finance experts, legal practitioners, engineers, and more.
SBCAM harnesses this internal strength by creating a structured network of volunteer advisors who support communication within their professional domains.
Over the weekend, during my engagements with members of the Birmingham and Manchester Chapters, one message stood out clearly: our communication must evolve to reflect the professional depth of our membership. SBCAM responds directly to that call.
The model delivers four key outcomes:
Expert-Driven Communication Network to ensure accuracy and credibility
Clear and Consistent Messaging across the branch
Rapid Response and Fact-Checking to counter misinformation
A Modern Digital Strategy informed by real subject-matter insight
This approach transforms communication from reactive statements into informed, strategic engagement. It positions the UK Branch as a leader in professionalised diaspora communication and strengthens public trust in our messaging.
As the current Communications Officer for the Bristol Chapter, I have seen how structured, expert-informed communication improves engagement and reduces misinformation.
SBCAM is practical, implementable, and tailored to the strengths of our members.
Our branch deserves communication that is not just louder, but smarter. SBCAM is the pathway
