God rewards faith and faithfulness. This is because He Himself is faithful. Faith, especially when we cannot see what God is doing, is what pleases Him. Hebrews 11:6 famously points this out.

Of all the patriarchs, one who pleased God the most is Noah. He was called by God to execute a daunting and haunting assignment which, at the commencement of its implementation, made no sense.

The exact number of years it took to build the ark is not stated. But biblical scholars put it at anything between 5 and a 100 hundred years - a long time, in any case, for building a refuge from a God-decreed flood when there was not a single sign or indication of it.

The Bible says in Matthew 24:37-39 in witness to the faith of Noah, the man he had called, and to the faithlessness of his generation that, "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." Noah's faith, in exemplifying what it takes to please God, condemned an indifferent and apathetic generations (Hebrews 11:7).

Our Father's faith, carrying through what God had called him to do over 40 years ago, seemed like the faith of Noah and foolishness to his generation.

I am writing this message with so much joy in my heart. Two Sundays past were truly part of the happiest of my life. Anytime I see Daddy dance, celebrating, or simply in his element, I am overwhelmed with joy. I can now fully relate to the theme of the recent convention: “He Is Faithful.” Yes, He truly is!

Can you imagine what the story would have been when Daddy told the world that he married Mummy through a revelation from God? Can you also imagine what people may have thought when he returned from Holland and told them that God had come knocking at his door and instructed him to return to Ghana to start what has today become Royal House Chapel Worldwide?

I remember one of Daddy's early sermons in which he shared how he had told people why he returned to Ghana and what God had asked him to do. Many doubted you, Daddy. But you told them that you would prove them wrong.

Have you ever thought about how people would have looked at him in those days? Given the opportunity, I might have asked him, “Daddy, what colour of clothes was the Lord wearing? Was He wearing a batakari or a suit?”

But as they say, time is the true vindicator of men. Today, your stable marriage, your years of faithful service, and the remarkable growth of the church you established, through which - like Noah's ark - countless people have been saved and come to know and worship God, are powerful testimonies that you truly heard from God.

Today, we are not gathered to mock you, scoff at you or castigate you. We are gathered to celebrate the very same man who, many years ago, was mocked, doubted and questioned because of what he said God had called him to do. The man who was once doubted - as Noah was - is today being celebrated for remaining faithful to the call. What a testimony of his faith and the faithfulness of God!

Daddy, He has truly been faithful to you.

For all these successes you've chalked up, on the back of God's call, you've indeed passed the credibility test with distinction. There's now neither doubt nor controversy about what you were chosen to do.

So, Daddy, enjoy Forty, swim in Forty, dance in Forty, celebrate Forty, and may the Lord grant you another 40 years and more in good health, strength, joy and greater impact.
