Rawlings Schools Kufuor On Political Tolerance

The establishment of the J A K(John Agyekum Kufour) foundation, with the support of government and the blessing of Ex -President Rawlings, at a time the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is in opposition; demonstrate our democratic progress as a nation and the political tolerance of the National Democratic Congress.

The wind of democratic progress in Ghana today marks a departure from the era where the illegal overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah (by grandfathers of the NPP) also meant closing down of his ideological institute, burning down of Nkrumah’s books and proscribing the Convention Peoples Party. We have moved on from the Era where the ruling NPP government led by Kufour stopped the University of Development Studies from honoring Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, a man who used his private money from (similar award won by Kufour) to establish the said University, simply because the later is his political opponent that he (Kufour) hates with a passion.

The illegal harassment, persecution and detention of Tsatsu Tsikata through the manipulation of the judicial system by Ex-President Kufuor, the use of the courts to victimize Mrs. Rawlings for eight years and the indiscriminate dismissal of perceived NDC sympathizers from their jobs by Kuffour regime must never happen again in our democratic dispensation again.
