Prof. Wayo Seini Is A Political 'Whore'

"How are the mighty falling...,"

Infact, how are the mighty running?

Another so-called 'heavyweight' political figure has caused a stir by abandoning the already fragmented NDC. Prof. Wayo Seini can lay claim for the appellation of the political 'slut' of the year by defecting from the NPP to the NDC and now back to the NPP. His widely-publicised 'Merry-go-round' has elicited mixed feelings from Ghanaians.

Whiles some are utterly shocked, others are befuddled whereas some even don't know what to make out of this flick. By his actions, the Prof. has done himself grave harm than good. His political credibility, like Alhaji Inusah, would be severely punctured. It is saddening that an intellectual like Prof. Seini, whose contributions in Parliament and on National issues were so vital, would not be taken for serious anymore. Infact, no one will pay heed to his admonitions anymore, for who knows when he'll defect again. It is always difficult working with people like the Professor. Such persons always flinch and run whenever they see a wall gecko. There are problems everywhere, problems in government, problems in institutions, problems in the family and problems with oneself, but then it takes a man to face up to such troubles and surmount them. People like Prof. Seini lack the guts to face up to problems and are always running and they'll run for the rest of their lives.

He shunned his mother party, NPP claiming that the Dagbon crisis hasn't been properly handled by the government. Why? Because, as an Andani, he felt the Andanis were given a raw deal in the matter and instead of staying put to present and defend his case well within the NPP,he chose to run. In this instance, his personal ethnic interest over-rode the national interest of maintaining peace and stability in the region. But hold it!

Is he now gratified with the handling of the mayhem in Dagbon? He should tell us. His reason again for leaving the NDC , is lack of democracy and internal violence within the party, the same old reason the others assigned for running away.

Lack of democracy indeed! He was given peferential treatment when he came to the party, rules were contravened for him, other prominent members stepped down for him to run for MP which he won. He got attached to Obed Asamoah and his cronies and now that his fellas are no more, it's only normal that he follows. Hear him, "I've been having nightmares since the Koforidua Congress and thank God I'm still alive."

I sympathize with the man for having nightmares for a long time since the congress. But what took him so long to tender in his resignation letter, especially when he had the likes of Rawlings whipping his arse in his dreams. His timing was also questionable, at a time when the minority was announcing its comeback to parliament. Wasn't he the same man who agreed to present his grievances to the committee set up to review the Koforidua fall-out on Monday,6th?

He was in such a haste, he even forgot to cross over the parliamentary way. For me, apart from his parochial interest, he is also smitten by the welcoming party that is always thrown for him whenever he defects. He loves the attention, the praises showered on him, the songs sung for him,the white powder thrown at him and I guess he loves it when they holler Wayooo Wayo.... But when all the mery making is over, what next Prof. Seini? I just wonder how he relates within the NPP, especially when he was heavily chided by President Kuffuor And Dan Botwe for leaving the NPP.

Like Alhaji Inusah,I'm afraid the Professor won't have a sound mind to go about his endeavours. It's so sad that a learned man should be so confused in life, but we wish him well.
