There is an old adage that "do what you want, but tell the people you want" (Fela just made that one up o). In other words, one can hold a political event, but still deny the fact that it is not a political event. It works like magic.

This secret luncheon that was not open to the general public, nor the opposion, with absolute restriction on attendees is no more a classic Washington, DC lobbying strategy to showcase Nana Akuffo Addo as the heir-apparent to President Kuffour than anything else. All done at the expense of the state. The Whitaker group even described Nana Akuffo Addo as one widely expected to win the next election.

In the official flyer of the Luncheon for Akuffo Addo, he is described as a nationalist, which he is not; an international statesman, a failed one at that; and as one following the legacy of his father who was the ceremonial president of the February 24, 1966-coup begotten or assisted 2nd Republic.
