Chairman Wontumi’s statement is not only laughable but also an insult to the intelligence of NPP delegates. Since when did the destiny of a great tradition like the NPP rest in the pocket of one man?
The elders say, “The tree that thinks no other tree can grow beside it will one day fall and become firewood.”
Our party was built on sacrifice, competence, and democratic competition, not on worshipping individuals.
To say no member of NPP can become president unless Dr Bawumia becomes president first is like saying “the chicken must crow before the sun rises.” But we all know the sun rises with or without the chicken’s crow.
Ken has already proven his unwavering loyalty and unmatched dedication to the NPP. When others were comfortable in high office, he sacrificed resources, energy, and blood for this party.
The same elders remind us: “When the drummer is beating the wrong rhythm, the dancer has every right to change the steps.” We refuse to dance to the wrong rhythm of blind endorsements.
Chairman Wontumi must be reminded that the NPP is bigger than individuals, bigger than endorsements, and bigger than empty threats.
Power belongs to the delegates, and no amount of intimidation will stop them from choosing Ken as the next leader to restore the party’s dignity and Ghana’s hope.
“A single tree cannot make a forest; it is the gathering of trees that brings the shade.”
The NPP family will rise above this divisive propaganda and rally behind the true son of the party — Hon Ken Ohene Agyapong.
