NPP should be disbanded ASAP

Mr. William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will go into the Guinness Book of Records as the only presidential candidate in Ghana who used a whole FOUR YEARS to campaign but ended up with a miserable and pathetic 47%. Indeed, Akuffo Addo embarked on his campaign tours since January 2009 right after the late President Mills was sworn into office. Akuffo Addo codenamed many of his four-year campaign tours such as Thank You Tour, Listening Tour, Restoring Hope Tour, etc, etc but all came to naught as it’s manifested in his poor performance at the pools. In the course of his campaign however, Mr. Addo and his surrogates adopted all kinds of unorthodox and communist inferior tactics and shenanigans they could marshal in order to cow Ghanaians to bring them back to power, as if we are so un- mundane to recall what they did and didn’t do for the eight years that they were giving the mandate to rule.

In most instances during their four year campaign, the NPP and its candidate adopted outright lies, concoctions, double speaking, deceptions, intimidations and polarizations based on tribal, ethnic and religious lines but discerning and silent majority of Ghanaians would have none of them and succinctly told the NPP in the face that NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) and therefore rejected them at the polls where Mr. Addo has been consigned to the political dustbin to be forgotten by posterity.

Besides engaging in outright lies and divisive tendencies, the Akuffo Addo led campaign underrated the intelligence of Ghanaians by advancing some unrealistic and unquantifiable promises such free senior school aimed to hoodwink parents and voting SHS students. How on earth do you provide free education while students attend classes under trees and teachers are not well paid? Also, while proposing that ridiculous free this, free that, Mr. Addo sought to play on the emotions of Kayayees who are mostly from the Northern extraction of building a hostel for them; this obviously was to ensure their continuous servitude to the rich in the Ghanaian society. At the very least, the NPP could have promised them a vocational school in their home regions to ensure them acquiring new and productive skills to enable them becoming self sufficient instead of engaging in that menial job.

The NPP is a party full of contradictions, insincerity and inconsistence for while people like Samuel Awuku of Akuffo Addo’s campaign team was consistently whining day-in and day-out that he was hungry and that there is no money in his pocket because the NDC led government had not created jobs, the guy was able to wed a wife whereby expensive imported drinks were in reckless abundance. Where did he get the money to organize such a lavish wedding since he claimed he didn’t have money in his pocket or he was simply lying to Ghanaians for sympathy? Additionally, at the same time that Akuffo Addo and his team were vilifying and insulting the late President Mills as Professor Do-Little who had made Ghanaians hungry, the defeated NPP presidential candidate was captured in one of his numerous campaign tours sharing sumptuous meals with a family. Certainly, the amount and quality of meals that were being consumed at the time didn’t indicate a family in dire straits for they had more to eat and share with others, including Mr. Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and his entourage.

While the NPP engaged itself in deliberate lies and deception, the part demonstrated its disdain for some particular tribes in the country as well as causing unnecessary tension as it show its readiness to spill in the country as a means of realizing its dreams. First, it was Mr. Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and his infamous all-die-be-die mantra of which he was so belligerent and intransigent to denounce even though well meaning Ghanaians advised him against that stance. Then we had a whole member of parliament Kennedy Agyapong declaring war in the country while calling on Asantes to attack and hurt Ewes and Gas without any provocation; how do you demonstrate an open hatred and hostility toward a group of people and expect them to vote for you? The threat from loony Kennedy Agyapong was followed by Samuel Awuku’s call on NPP supporters to hurt fellow Ghanaians who don’t subscribe to the NPP ideology with discarded pestles (womafunu), not to mention Anthony Karbo’s threats of visiting Ghanaians with the terror taking place in Afghanistan if the NPP were not declared winners of the elections.

Now that the Ghanaian electorates have spoken unequivocally by showing their abhorrence to NPP while consigning them to the political dustbin, it stands to reason that the party takes introspective look and disband itself as a means of restructuring and rebranding while waning itself from tribalism, its quest for national unrest and division while striving for equality and respect for all Ghanaians irrespective of their tribal, social, religious or educational stand.
