NDC-UK/Ireland forms committees for 2020 manifesto

As part of the “bottom-up approach” strategy by the oppositional the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for drafting its 2020 manifesto, the UK/Ireland Chapter of the party, has set up various committees in order to make immense contributions.

According to executives of the UK/Ireland Chapter, the party in the diaspora is battle-ready and living no stone unturned in making sure that, the NDC comes out with the best and more convincing policy document to wrestle power from deceitful President Akufo Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in 2020.

Chairman of the UK/Ireland Chapter, Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba, who made this known said, as parts of their resolve, “the chapter has set up Research and Policy Committee, which among other things, will engage identifiable groups and professional in the Ghanaian community to collate ideas and information from them”.

Speaking during former President John Mahama’s visit and engagement with the party members and sympathizers last Sunday at Tottenham in UK, Alhaji Mbalba said the committees will at the end of their engagements; submit its findings to the substantive manifesto Committee in line with President John Mahama’s bottom-up approach strategy.

He mentioned that the Research and Policy Committee has sub-committees for various sectors such as; education committee, health, infrastructure, economy among others.

Meanwhile, the Chairman also has announced that the NDC-UK/Ireland Chapter has embarked on unprecedented membership drive which saw new branches springing up, including Republic of Ireland.

He indicated that the NDC UK/Ireland Chapter supports party’s official position on Representation of the People Amendment Act (ROPAA), saying – ROPAA everywhere or nowhere.

The NDC flagbearer’s delegation to the UK includes; the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who answered questions on the controversial PDS scandal and other topical issues currently being discussed in the frontline politics in Ghana.

Others are; Alex Segbefia- Director of international relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankra – Director of Elections, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho – former MP for Madina and Kojo Bonsu – former Mayor of Kumasi.
