; an Open Letter to the President.
Your Excellency, during a mirage 50/50 rally at the Jackson Park in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, yesterday, 17th October, 2015, you were at pains, but in vain, trying to engage in your usual habit of throwing rocks into the eyes of right-thing Ghanaians, by seeking to deny the fact that you actually ORDERED for a new voters' register in Togo for that country's recent general elections.
Sir, it was obvious you were engaging in that futile attempt to extricate yourself from a pit you dug and has now fallen heavily into, following a massive public condemnation of your unfortunate act of duplicitously duplicitous duplicity, for calling for a new voters' register in a neighboring sister-country, Togo, but turning round to fight against the same calls, right here under your very nice sexy nose.
But your Excellency, even with this highly unfortunate act of putting your hand in a blazing inferno just to deny the fact that you actually demanded for a new voters' register in Togo, not withstanding, I still have these 8 simple questions for you;
1. Did the Togo voters' register contain nearly 80,000 'ghosts' from other Sub-Saharan African countries?
2. Were ghosts bussed by any neighboring government into the boarders of Togo, under the cover of darkness, and issued with Togolese National Health Insurance Cards to enable them register as citizens to have their names captured onto their voters' register?
3. It has now even been established that these nearly 80,000 Togolese 'ghosts' didn't bother to physically enter the borders of Ghana to register, but rather, agents of your NDC government/party, in cahoots with some criminal elements at EC, actually carried registration equipments purchased with monies belonging to Ghanaian taxpayers, across our borders into Togo, registered these 'ghosts’, scanned the forms of these registered 'ghosts’, hacked into our EC's data and inserted them.
4. Does the Togolese constitution allow for dual citizenship?
5. How many Togolese have officially/successfully applied to the ministry of interior to become Ghanaian citizens, since the days of Don Diego d’Azambuja?
6. It was established during the 2012 election petition that over 50,000 'ghosts' voted for you in the presidential race, but these 'ghosts' peacefully went back into their graves without bothering to vote for either NPP or NDC MPs; so who were those ghosts?
7. Is the Togolese EC headed by a 'foreigner' appointed by the sitting-president?
8. I have heard you on several platforms, trying to sound neutral in this saga over whether there should be a new voters’ register or not. So, why is your line of argument always in-tuned with that of those who are against the compilation of new voters’ register, and for that reason, always responding to proponents of the idea?
Simply put, Your Excellency, the scenario which played out in Togo before their recent general elections that must have necessitated a so-called CLEANED but not a NEW voters' register, as you are now claiming, is totally different from what we have at hand here in Ghana as we go into election-2016.
So your Excellency, it is better for you to wake up to the realities on the ground and stop your totally fruitless pursuit of swimming against the prevailing tsunami-like wave of calls for a new voters' register for the 2016 elections, in order to avert a potential spontaneous uncontrollable post-election civil upheaval, because, our dear nation was handed over to you in one-piece and it is incumbent on you to do same to your successor on 7th January, 2017.
I am grateful for your kind attention and I look forward to my humble advice being taken on-board while cogent answers are provided to my eight simple questions, your Excellency.
Yours sincerely
Justice Abeeku Newton-Offei
