Mothercare School celebrates 50th anniversary

One of Ghana’s most prestigious pre/first cycle educational institutions, Mothercare School, has celebrated its 50th anniversary crowning it with a grand durbar at the school\s premises at Burma Camp in Accra.
The Golden Jubilee anniversary grand durbar, speech and prize giving day came off successfully last Saturday and, was under the theme, “50 years of holistic education towards national development advancing activity and technology”.
It was an occasion for the school to appreciate the efforts of those who have helped it reach this far, most importantly the founder of the institution, Mrs. Acquah Asare.
Head Mistress of the school, Linda Boye (Mrs.), paid tribute to the founder for her hard work in making this dream a reality, adding that it is through her effort that the school has reached this far.
Mrs. Boye said, “the next 50 years presents a challenge for us to do more for this institution as we seek to play a lead role in the advancement of the development of this country”.
She promised that her staff would live up to the challenge of putting Ghana at a higher pedestal as the country seeks to produce quality human resource who would spearhead the advancement of putting Ghana higher among the league of nations.
Municipal Chief Executive of the La Dadekotpon Assembly, Rita Odoley Sowah said, the government is willing to partner the private sector in an effort to bring quality education to the doorstep of the people and, urged parents to keep a prime focus on the development of their wards.
She congratulated the school for reaching this milestone and hoped that, the next 50 years would yield even greater heights for the institution.
The occasion also marked the 29th graduation ceremony of the school and saw deserving students being awarded prizes and certificates for their hard work over the last academic year.
Various prizes were awarded to pupils for their individual brilliance as they moved on towards the next stage of their educational development.
Teachers and staff who have served the school faithfully over the years, were also awarded for their efforts in putting the school at a higher pedestal as its closed its campaign for another academic year.
The occasion was also used to appeal for fund in aid of a solar panel for the school as its seeks to be efficient in the supply of energy for the school.
Mothercare School was established in 1965 as a preschool and has developed into a full fletched institution offering primary and Junior High School programmes leading to the secondary level.
