Milking the state in the name of Covid 19?

It is said that every misfortune is a blessing. But some misfortunes should not attract blessing, be it artificial or natural. Sadly, Money loving Ghanaian leaders seem to be enriching themselves out of this dreadful, fearful pandemic disease.

In the wake of the pandemic, government spokesperson, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, pleaded with Ghanaians not to use the misfortune to make an unreasonable profit, but like the endless fight between the kettle and the pot, over who is black, the Ghanaian attitude keeps rearing its ugly head.

Just as Government was busily pleading with citizens not to be profiteering, some powerful men and women in government circles were busily bargaining with car dealers, food vendors to make profit out of this famous COVID-19 pandemic.

Confused and misplaced as our leaders have exhibited for some time now, they went into vehicle purchasing to fight COVID 19, instead of PPE’s. Are we at war? When health facilities are without essentials such as liquid soup, sanitizers among others, our leaders find joy in buying customized vehicles in the name of COVID 19. Some by now, are putting up houses with monies mend for the fight against COVID-19.

Government shamefully told the nation that two million Ghana cedis are spent daily on a hot meal for the ‘poor’ in the wake of the lockdown. This is shambolic. Will the government be serious in this case?

People lives are at stake. Please, lets stop the comedy as a nation and get serious. This is not the time for comedy.

Please, Mr Information Minister, for people who are into profiteering, watch within the inner circle of your government.

Mr. Information minister, are you aware that, some hospital administrators, cleaners, accountants have suddenly become nurses overnight, hijacking government politicized 50% salary arrears for front-line health workers? Are they back-line health workers as far as COVID 19 fight is a concern? I will leave this for another day.

Stay safe.
