Lifestyle: Dream killers

When it comes to dreams, there is no limit to what we can achieve or do. As a matter of fact we hold the key to our destiny, we are the driver of our dreams, we are the authors of our story.

What we need is God’s direction to get to the right destination. The problem here is, God is not directing most of us because we have refused to move.

No static car can move to any direction no matter the degree the steering wheel is turn. The steering will only be effective when the car is in motion. Each and every single person has a gift, a talent, an ability to pursue their unique goal and dreams in life in spite of what circumstances we find ourselves in; be it the village we are born in, the parent or education we have or our age. It doesn't matter how we start, but how we finish is what matters.

The truth is, none of us is defined by our circumstances or by how people see us. It's all up to us to define ourselves, our purpose, our calling. That's the work we have to do.

But unfortunately, a lot of us are lazy, Yes! Lazy! A lazy man will fold the hands and go to sleep when things go bad. He is comfortable blaming people for his misfortune rather than doing something to improve it.

The Lazy person wants an easy life. A Lazy man stays poor forever. The bible says "He who works with a lazy hand is poor, but the hand of the hard worker brings riches" - Proverbs 10:4 (NLV).

Another factor killing our dreams is illusion; we think there will always be tomorrow. All the dead had this mindset, but the question is, where are they now?

"Do not talk much about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day will bring" - Proverbs 27:1 (NLV). Each day is an opportunity to work on your dreams, you have no control over time. Follow the clock, don't just watch it.

Just as we have dreams, there are also nightmares. Nightmares are disappointments, the setbacks in life. Lots of people have allowed these factors to cast shadows on our hopes, dreams and what tomorrow has for us. Not everyone is able to wake up from nightmares, so it’s important you know who you talk to about your dreams.

There are many of us who go out and sell our dreams, ideas, plans, to people who are going through nightmares in life. How do you expect such people to help you? The only help they can offer you is to help you kill your dreams. Don’t let today’s disappointments cast a shadow on tomorrow’s hopes and dreams.

Lastly, there is no competition in life, I understand there will always be dreams more outstanding or modest than your own, but there will never be a dream exactly like your own, for you are unique and more amazing than you know!
