Letter From The President: Filthy living

...we like to clean up our surroundings for visitors – not for ourselves

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents,

I was glad to read an internet news headline attributed to the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Environment. The headline simply read: ‘Accra is not filthy as it used to be’. I said to myself, “well, that’s an honest statement to make.” But I was disappointed when I read the story itself.

According to the report, the minister, Asa Bee, claimed in a radio interview in far away Australia that “Accra is not as filthy as it used to be anymore …there have been a massive improvement since this government came to power.” Really?
