Letter From The President: Encounter with the Press

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents,

I have just received another big boost to my ego. I feel on top of the world. It?s all because I?ve just finished my ?media encounter? with dozens of journalists. They came to the Castle in their numbers and asked all sorts of questions ? some wise, some foolish and others in-between. The programme has taught me that it pays to talk to the media. I will tell you why. But let me start by saying that I have no apologies for being about 20 minutes late to the programme. For an African president being just about 20 minutes late is a good sign of maturity. Most other African leaders are often an hour or more late. Being late makes us feel more powerful. I was very happy that when I arrived all the journalists were anxiously waiting to ?fire? questions at me and so most of them did not even notice how late I was. Those who noticed decided not to complain. So after a short introduction by Danny B, I delivered a mini state of the nation address, detailing (as usual) our successes.
