Kwasi Jonah has displayed intellectual honesty and bravery

As Ghanaians, we always complain a lot about how our intellectuals and politicians betray us. Yet, when Dr. Kwasi Jonah, a respectable political scientist, finally comes out to propose a system that not only Ghana, but all of Africa must consider, some loud-mouths chose to attack him personally rather than challenge his ideas.
What is so complicated about proportional representation? Why can’t the executive represent the proportions in parliament? If NDC wins 60% of the vote, the party must nominate 60% of all executive positions in the country, from ministerial positions to the level of District Chief Executives. If the NDC appoints regional ministers for the regions they win, and the NPP appoints ministers and District Chief Executives for the regions and districts they win respectively, the appointments will reflect the wishes of the electorate! This is not rocket science. This is common sense and honesty. But the partisans who have hijacked our destiny will not listen to this common sense. Where are our community leaders, I ask? Mpaninfuo ni fie anaa? Chief Imam, moderators, chiefs, speak up! Ghana is not making progress with our partisanship. Our partisanship is failing us! Let’s stop copying blindly.
This is not a backdoor way to get NPP back to power. This is for the sake of our nation. Let us be honest with ourselves for once! Let us shirk sycophancy and embrace the truth in our society. Bold people must step forward. Let’s step out of the shadows where all we do is petty talk and boldly speak truth to power! “Kwasi mo!”(well done)
All the talk on the airwaves and in the cyber world amounts to nothing if we fail to embrace the truth. Ghana, please seize your destiny. Korea, Singapore, and recently China, have all transformed themselves. Let us do so for the sake of Africa.
