Konadu Rawlings Who Born Hypocrisy: Call for Your Own Head

*By Akadu Ntiriwa Mensema, Ph. D.

“Former first lady and a Vice Chair of the ruling NDC, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has called on the Atta Mills led administration to act fast in prosecuting members of the past NPP administration who she says have committed various acts of financial malfeasance” (Peace FM On-line March 3, 2010).

Yaa Konadu
Self-righteous, conceited, sanctimonious
And holier than thou JJ Rawlings
The watershed of post-1979 thievery elite
Scream for the ending of the Indemnity Clause
That has canopied JJ Rawlings
Always blaring holier than thou din
Cacophonic noises of anti-corruption
Noises even as you burn your thievery wealth

JJ is quiet for now
Bitten by who born dogs
Consumed by who born fire
So Yaa Konadu is out fanning old fires
Tinkering with their firewall of hypocrisy

Yaa Konadu
You may think Ghanaians are foolish
Yes we are
Else how do we listen
Perennially listen to your self-serving
Cacophonic hypocrisy
Blaming all others
Masquerading as the angel of fire
That consumes corruption, graft, thievery
Yet majestically, ironically personify all
Corruption, graft, thievery
Yes Ghanaians
Cocooned in a democracy of amnesia
Have privileged your two-facedness

The first to import a Jacuzzi
A huge $46, 000 Jacuzzi in the 1990s
That could have built a clinic
A multi-purpose Jacuzzi
You insisted for your BACKACHE
While 1000s of women die in childbirth

Yaa Konadu
You conned and canned us
In cornering Nsawam Cannery
You are a free thief
Calling others thieves
Clamoring for their heads
Shouting morality from the rooftop

You educated your children overseas
Your honorable friends bore the cost
Your anonymous honorable friends
Name them on the honor role
Of the transparency mantra of JJ Rawlings

You ride in posh bullet-proof cars
Change cars like your headgear
Your honorable friends bore the cost
Name them on the honor role
Of the transparency mantra of JJ Rawlings

Keys to the Fiat Campagnola
The vessel for abducting the slain judges
Were picked from your secured, enriched
24-hour-guarded dining table
Yet you are walking free
Calling for the trophy-heads of others

Yaa Konadu
Ask JJ Rawlings who born dog
To account for our 50-cedi notes
To account for Tarkwa gold bars
To account for the abductions, murders
To account for selling state corporations

Yaa Konadu
Ask JJ’s rabid dogs
To go to prison
Dogs with rags to riches biographies
Like JJ Rawlings’ rags-to-riches
JJ’s dogs
The Tsikatas of MERCENARY INTELLECTUALS
The Ahwois of SOCIALIST CASH-PRO THIEVES

Ghanaians know you now
Like the backs of their calloused hands
The hypocrite, power drunk
With a burdening headgear
On a conceited head
The wife of who born dogs
Whose dogs don’t die in fire
The wife of who born fire
Who dresses for Fire-ing-Valentine
Save your phony din of anti-corruption
Scream for the ending of the Indemnity Clause
That has canopied JJ Rawlings
Safeguarded your delusions of grandeur
Buttressed your noisy holier than thou mantra
