Just sacking a perceived thief isn’t only Corruption; it’s criminal

By Fadi Dabbousi

Flagrant belligerence is making do with just sacking a perceived thief from office and stopping right there! It is tantamount to aiding and abetting the perpetration of crime. It is CORRUPTON! It is CRIMINAL!
She put up at a plush hotel for over one year at the expense of the poor tax payer; hundreds of thousands of US Dollars wasted on misplaced priorities – hotel accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, sometimes with friends and family; oh lest I forget, expensive convoys too! Thousands were spent on laundry to keep her clothes brilliantly impeccable for sham meetings and unbeneficial investigations of corruption that has mushroomed out of control. All that, coupled with supine security institutions in perpetual slumber, it comes to the nation as no surprise that a woman who caused such gross financial loss to the State is free – and of course with the signature mannerism of the governing NDC party; IMPUNITY!
My beef, however, is not as sore with this imp, who saw nothing wrong with such scandalous squandering of the nation’s money; it is not as sore with those who aided and abetted her in this wanton disrespect for the people she was placed to serve. It is rather with the venality of the system that continues to recognise such fetid characters as heroes. It is with the unrestrained show of nonchalance over this worrying status quo. It is with President John Dramani Mahama for the constant compensation of thieves for their insatiable greed and appetite to devour the carcass of the nation. This nation had long died from the indifference of governance, injustice and uncontrolled narcissism of NDC stooges at the helm of affairs.
Need one say more? Mr handsome Excellency saw reason not to push further. Just like in the case of Victoria Hama and others, freedom has embraced this corrupt ex-CHRAJ Boss. I am stupefied for the lack of adjectives to aptly register my disgust. Such condescension is not what the President was elected to exhibit. Irrespective of the sham results of the elections that were coerced in his favour, he remains legally in charge of the country, albeit not for long now. Recently, he touted his much played tune, “I shall fight corruption in 2016. They do not know me!” Well, His Excellency has been in Power for seven years, and if it takes him such a long time to wake up from the stupor that has taken over the Presidency then Lord have mercy on our poor souls. He has never been able to do anything about corruption because his outfit has reeked of it! He has not been able to do anything about corruption because since his shambolic ascension to the presidency, it has continued in a crescendo of wrong; and the center cannot hold for too long.
He made this pronouncement to rejuvenate his bandwagon of failed promises; indecisiveness; lies and collusion; aiding and abetting criminal behaviour of officers of the State; covering the backs of prodigal sons of the Presidency; Create, Loot and Share principles of intolerance to honesty, integrity, morality and dignity. “What else is left in the life of this rich-poor country, Mr Promise and Fail John?”
Mr President has made a living hell out of the lives of Ghanaians, rich and poor alike. But no one wants to see a final nail driven into the coffin of the nation; we still need some breathing space to survive until we change him at the polls in 2016. “Mr President John Dramani Mahama, prosecute Lauretta Lamptey immediately and distance your Excellency from her. She is a bad nut that will destroy your PRESIDENTIAL NUTS. She can never bring you any good. Just save your handsome face until you are voted out of Power. After all, if you have to be remembered, let your fine looks mask a bit of the putrid scandals that your outfit has been plagued with.”
