In the name of Allah, most gracious, and most Merciful.

This is an excellent opening when a Muslim commences any Godly,legitimate and legally - minded activity.

Islam, the perfected religion of Allah and with Prophet Mohammed PBUH as leader appointed by Allah to lead the followers of the religion.

It is a religion that has the oneness of Allah as its core value and the submission to the will of Allah as other key value.

Practitioners of the religion are called Muslims.

Muslims are encouraged to participate in all Godly and religious activities or practices as enshrined in the Greatest Book, the Holy Quran and the numerous

Authentic Hadiths.

All Muslims are guided by the five pillars.

These are Believing in the Oneness of Allah and His Prophets, with Prophet

Mohammed PBUH as the climax of all the Prophets of Allah.

Performing the five daily prayers ( Al- Salat),

Performing Sawm ( fasting) during the Holy Month of Ramadan and any other days or months as encouraged by Prophet Mohammed PBUH.

Giving of Zakat ( Alms to the poor and the needy without discrimination and to undertake pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca.

The are other actionable activities that Muslims are to believe in.

These include the Prophets of Allah, The Angels,The Holy Quran, The Judgement Day and emulate the practices of the Holy Prophet Mohammed PBUH and all other Prophets of Allah.

The caveat here is that it is Unisliamic for any Muslim to disown any Prophets or Messenger of Allah as directed by Allah Himself.

Ghana as a secular state, has Islam, Christianity and the Traditional Religions as the most dominant religions.

Islam has numerous Muslims who are contributing in their various ways toward the development of the religion and the country.

My piece is on the politicians who are Muslims and those I know especially Members of Parliament.

I spend most of my professional time with them as a legal, communication and research person with some of them. As a professional, you display neutrality in your dealings with them.

As a practising Muslim myself, one politician whose commitment and dedication to Islam and Muslims that I have curiously observed both from afar and near is Hon Collins Dauda, Member of Parliament for the good people of Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region.

He also doubles as the longest serving MP in our Parliament after the elevation of Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Rt Hon Speaker of our Parliament.Hon CD is just an amazing role model for Muslim politicians in our country.

This is my personal observation and I believe many Muslims who know this distinguished legislator / politician can testify and agree with me. I see him serving Allah and actively showcasing Islam.

He makes Islam tentalizing, catchy and attractive to the young ones and other Muslim politicians and professionals.

In this part of our world,it is rare to see politicians spending their time and energy in the service to God except during campaigning,when they are anxiously seeking for the votes for their political positions.But to Hon CD, politics does not take the place of Islam.

He places Islam before his political party or assignment.

He shares this with me and others.

He actually does that.

Anytime that the House is sitting considering any matter, no matter the relevance of the issue, Hon CD will seek permission or at times he takes a French Leaf and goes to worship when it is time for Salat.

This behaviour is known to all his colleagues and the staff of Parliament.

That is how far this gentleman practises Islam.

I see him as a replica of our distinguished brother, Hon Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala who also dedicated his life to the growth of Islam.

The essence of this piece is not to promote anyone but to encourage the ivory towers and all Muslims to allow the matters regarding Islam to be their priorities.

Hon CD is seen as Noor ( light) of Muslim Politicians in the country. It is not surprising that some of our politicians at least in Parliament are religiously following the footsteps of Hon CD.

They are Honourables Muntaka, Hamza,Suhiyini, Jigsaw,Bawa,Mustafa,Tampuli,Kabiru and some few ones who have been walking their talks as far as Islam is concerned. The visible demonstration of Islam by some of our politicians is a motivation for the young ones to emulate and dedicate themselves to the religion of Allah.

It must be stated that when we all depart from this earth, our contributions to our political and social organisations will not be asked but how we practiced and served Allah and humanity will be asked.

Back to Hon CD, this is a politician who will not allow his political beliefs to derail his Islamic principles.

He is ready to offer every assistance in support to Muslims, Islamic activities and other matters affecting Islam.

He sees politics as a tertiary matter when it comes to Islam.Masha Allah.

He does his politics but does Islam to the apogee.

I pray that all Muslim Politicians and other Muslim professionals even beyond GH will emulate this amazing man who has made Islam and by extension serving Allah and acting in the practice of the religion as his core activity.

Hon CD is an imperfect being like all of us but his love, dedication and commitment to Islam is exemplary.

Those politicians and professionals who are 'playing' with Islam should quickly reform and emulate Hon CD and other Muslim politicians. Islam is the way to Allah.
