Is The Vice President (Now) Visiting The Flood Victims ....

Only Because Of Accountability?

Now that the Chinese Red Cross has donated to the Ghanaian flood victims the Vice President will at long last visit flood affected areas in the north.
The Vice President John Dramani Mahama would, on November 25, visit all the flood affected areas in the three northern regions.
Apart from assessing the extent of damage in the area, the Vice President would also find out how the relief items donated by the government and its development partners had been distributed.
According to the Vice President Mahama, Mr. Gong Jian Zhong, the Chinese Ambassador in Ghana, has presented a cheque of $50,000.00 through the Ghana Red Cross Society to support the victims in the three affected northern regions and parts of the Volta and Brong Ahafo regions.
The donation was in response to the appeal the Vice President made a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the flood victims. He said an interim assessment of the disasters showed that thousands of people had been displaced with substantial destruction of crops and farmlands.
Vice President Mahama said the destruction of crops and farmlands could have seriously affected the development with the likelihood of food shortage and therefore commended the Chinese government for promptly responding to their plight.
Mr. Gong, the Chinese Ambassador in Ghana promised that his government would continue to support Ghana in all aspects of development and called for further collaborations in many other development areas.
Professor Kwabena Bosompem, President of Ghana Red Cross Society, also commended the Chinese Red Cross for their assistance.
Do we need to buy 8 Airplanes while our people are suffering?
Didn’t we Ghanaians give Haiti people millions of Dollars as donation when they were entangled in the same situation?
Why must we leave our own flood victimized people to their own destinies?
Is the Government really caring for the Ghanaian People?
