Is Ghana sitting on a time bomb?

The culture of impunity enjoyed by some Soldiers involved in brutalization of Police Officers over the years is a clear indication that, there is too much injustice in the system and I am afraid to say that, the security of the Nation is severely suffering from African trypanosomiasis.

Military physical attacks on police officers while executing their legitimate duties are now ubiquitous, yet perpetrators go unpunished.
This barbaric act is a breeding ground for anarchy and chaos but all "Big eyes" are watching and have shown aparthy. To the best of my knowledge, anyway, I stand to be corrected, No Army officer has been charged, arraigned before any competent court and dealt with. Why? ???. These frequent attacks are recipe for disaster. What happens to the grass when two elephants fight?

The victimizations, pains, vindictiveness and anger are now intolerable. Do we want the Police to retaliate before pragmatic action is taken? Or somebody needs blood for sacrifice?

I am calling for rule of law and natural justice to prevail sooner than later. Officers involved should be punished. Nobody is above the law. Simply put.

FLASHBACK:...Below are some Military Brutalities, but the Offenders were left Off the Hook:

"A SWARM OF BEES" (SOLDIERS) INVADED KUMASI (2010)

Some Military officers waged a two-day Assault Operation on police in Kumasi for attempting to arrest a rider who committed motor traffic offence, but later identified himself as a soldier.

On June 7, 2010 at about 5pm, a number of soldiers from Fourth Garrison, Kumasi took the law into their hands, went on rampage and brutalised Inspector Jacob Gyekye, Lance Corporal Opoku Agyemang Prempeh and Constable Hanna Serwaa who were directing traffic at the Bekwai roundabout.

On same day at about 7pm, Lance Corporal C.K Mensah of Nkawie police was severely attacked and assaulted by a group of Military officers at Sofoline area while he was driving home.

A group of Soldiers in three military vehicles were still Not Satisfied, proceeded to the Suame police station vandalised radio equipment and other property and physically assaulted Corporal G.K Amedzo, Constable E. Ofosuhene and Constable F.O.Boateng while on duty.

Sergeant Peter Oppong, Sergeant E. Obuoman and Lance Corporal Zab Tetteh Mensah from MTTD on duty at Sofoline were attacked by soldiers with hammers and left them unconscious. They were later rushed to KATH for treatment.

On May 20, 2010, some soldiers went to Suame police station and assaulted the Officers for questioning their driver who was driving without a log book and a driver's license.

On 22nd May, 2010, another Military officer who drove carelessly at Asokwa, Kumasi attacked an MTTD officer who tried to caution him.

On 20/12/2016, about 20 soldiers from Air Force Base in Takoradi stormed the Kwesimintsim Police Station with two pick-ups, ransacked and vandalised everything in the office and injured one Sergeant Yaa Serwaa and two others on duty over the arrest of a Ghanaian relative in the British Army.

On Monday, 6th June, 2017 some soldiers from Adum, a suburb of Kumasi severely assaulted a policeman mercilessly for using the road at their barracks to the Regional police Headquarters, and he was later rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

BOLGATANGA ATTACKS

On 5th March, 2018, some soldiers spotted Asiamah Raymond (policeman) of Bolga SWAT wearing military camouflaged shorts and ordered him to remove. He went home to remove and came back to his colleagues who were on duty. Later, heavily armed Military personnel on board two military vehicles led by their Commander attacked and assaulted Asiamah severely for wearing the military camouflage short.

RECENTLY @ ASUTSUARE

On 15th April, 2018, some soldiers invaded Police check point at Asutsuare on the Tema-Akosombo highway disarmed a police officer and subjected other men on duty to severe beatings and Inspector Addo fell unconscious. ...The brutality goes on and on. .. and officers are highly peeved because no offender has been punished. ..

I humbly appeal to the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Defence Staff, the Interior Minister, just to mention a few, to ensure that there's peace and tranquility in the country and rule of law must be applied to all and sundry, irrespective of ones political affiliation, colour, ethnicity etc.
