If only we cared a little about the future of our country!

If I cared a little about the future as a tutor (or lecturer), I would not take salaries without performing my core functions of teaching and researching, nor would I use the same lecture notes for each student badge without revising them to reflect the intricacies and current experiences of the world!

If I cared a little about the future as a student, I would put in all effort to understanding lessons and become the educated elite society needs to positively transform, because I need to stand for positive change!

If I cared a little about the future as a civil servant, I would not avail myself late for work at all times, nor would I leave work prior to the official closing time!

If I cared a little about the future as a public servant, I would scrutinize contracts carefully before appending my signature for the good of my country, and for the reason I am paid!

If I cared a little about the future as the President of this country, my rule will be that of a hot-stove, because posterity would have to continue from my good foundation, not forgetting that my lead will be a reflection of that of my myriad of appointees! If I cared a little about the future as the Chief Justice of this country, I would uphold the doctrine of fairness, equity, and justice, as this is the soul of every society, and no amount of bribery is worth subverting this virtue! If I cared a little about the future as a lawyer, I would defend the vulnerable at all times to prove that society cannot prevail without equity and justice! If I cared a little about the future as a Parliamentarian, my line of thinking in pushing Bills and laws would not be based on party ideologies, but for the good of my constituents especially that senior citizen who, despite ailing health, queued to vote me into parliament! If I cared a little about the future as a politician, objective criticism would be my mantra, as I represent the interest of current and the future unborn! If I cared a little about the future as a medical doctor, life saving would be my priority at all times because without me, human resources required for societal development cannot operate at its optimum!

If I cared a little about the future as a citizen, I would gladly report any malpractices I witness or observe, because without my vigilante role, people in authority are bound lean towards mediocrity and, I would not demand unnecessarily from politicians or people in authority since that would undermine my person, and empower them to be more corrupt with our much-needed resources! What would you do if you cared a little about the future of this country?
