Columnist: OSU Youth

Homowo Message to President Mahama

We are saddened and disappointed by the removal of Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey from Cabinet.
As we celebrate our yearly homowo festival, the NDC youth as well as well-wishers would like to convey this message to his Excellency President John Mahama.
The removal of Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey as Employment Minister is an insult to the people of OSU, and to all Ga- Dangme in general.
President Mahama came to power with about 25% of the vote from the Greater Accra region. However, taking a closer look at the president’s cabinet, it’s very obvious that there currently is no MP in the greater Accra region that is a cabinet Minister.
Furthermore, with the removal of Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey from the Employment Ministries, there is no Indigenous Ga in President Mahama cabinet.
As we celebrate our homowo festival we would like to pledge our support to the NDC but would like to bring to light that GA’s in particular, is a force to reckon with, when it comes to politics. We would also like to remind others that our 25% will be a part in the determination of the next president and as such, we must have a voice and be represented in your government.
The removal of Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey from government is like pulling a feather of a hen. He is a stellar minister, and a truthful servant to Ghana who deserves to be elevated and not removed. A word to the wise is enough.
