Abusua is Champion Comedian

ABUSUA (Joseph Okyere) was on New Year?s day crowned the 2002 champion comedian at the grand finale of Key Soap Concert party who-is-who held at the National.At the end of the contest, Abusua who also emerged a runner up in 2001, tied with Asaase Aban and when the two were given the floor for the final battle, Abusua proved to Asaase Aban that 2003 is his year.

He took home a cheque of ?6 million while Asaase Aban who emerged as the first runner-up received ?4 million. Last year?s winner, Agya Koo who was third also took away ?2.5 million cedis.In the drama segment, new sensation Oguaaman Concert party with their educative play entitled ?Let us sustain the peace in the country? edged out 2001 champions Edikanfo and Biakoye.

For their prizes, Oguaaman Concert Party took home an amount of ?8 million. The runners up, Edikanfo received ?5 million while Biakoye who were third got an amount of ?3.5 million.Oguaaman were also voted the most disciplined group and for their prize, they were given ?2 million. Their leader, known as Odeneho, won the best actor award and took home ?1.2 million.

The best actress award went to Monica Sarpong who was also presented with a cheque of 1.2 million. In other categories, Gladys Bonfoa won the discovery of the year award and was given 800,000 cedis with Nkwansuo also known as Odei Danso winning the best all-round performance.

Mr Ebow Spio of Lever Brothers, who said he was happy about the progress in the Key Soap Concert Party over the years, mentioned that the interest that Key Soap has generated in the concert party has compelled them to honour their valued customers.

Mr Spio explained that the Gold Key promotion and the Key powder were examples of their interest to reward customers. He revealed that Key Soap has introduced 18 different colours of Key Soap fabrics and very soon, a promotion will commence to reward clients.

A member of the National Theatre Board, Nana Kodua Kesse said Concert Party has been used to educate and entertain Ghanaians on social issues. He pointed out that Concert Party has also brought people who were unknown to stardom and mentioned in particular, Nkomode and Bishop Bob Okalla, who have travelled several times since then to Europe for performances. Nana Kodua Kesse, who is also the Oyokohene and Adontenhene of New Juaben Traditional Area appealed to the Government to set up an endowment fund to promote the development of Arts and Culture.Hiplife artistes Sidney, terry Bonchaka and Buk Bak were there to thrill fans with their brand of music.

Abeiku Santana and Akumaa of Adom FM were MCs for the show. They took turns to entertain the crowd and at a certain stage, Abeiku took off his clothes in a typical Nkomode Style. The Dance Factory of the National Theatre who outdoored their new costumes were splendid with their dance pieces and at the end of it all, fans were satisfied with the verdict.

In a related development, Agya Koo, Abusua and Issa Karim who were billed to travel to Canada but their flight was cancelled at the last minute were presented with cash of 10 million cedis each.
