Crisis Over Sissala East District Chief Executive

Good afternoon, we have invited you here to share with you details of the events leading to the obvious rejection of Moses Bavia as the District Chief Executive of the Sissala East District.
We will start by congratulating and thanking His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana for Moses Bavia’s nomination.
We the leadership of Young Democrats in Sissala Land were not surprise by the rejection of Moses Bavia but rather amazed with the heavy weight the Regional Minister, the Regional and Constituency Executives of National Democratic Congress (NDC) and party faithful put behind the rejected nominee of the president to be confirmed.
It is not for nothing that the Honourable Assembly Members rejected Moses Bavia - the president’s nominee but his own incompetence and disparaging remarks he made against the Assembly Members during the four year tenure of Honourable Alijata Suleman. To say that the Assembly Members did not know the reasons why they were in the Assembly was most unfortunate and we are sure he will be lamenting over such statements now. Hon Moses Bavia simply does not have the fundamental leadership qualities to effectively mirror the president at the district level. At these difficult times of the president’s stewardship, one would expect that appointment of individuals to the position of the DCE should take into serious account the sufficient combination of the following leadership attributes: Intelligence, Self-Confidence, Integrity, Determination, dynamism, and sociability. It is empirically grounded that individuals with such attributes are more likely to be effective leaders in every given situation. Truth be said, Moses Bavia lacks most of these qualities if not all. This is a common knowledge to the people of the Sissala East District; hence his nomination by the president came as a big surprise to the populace because obviously, he is the least preferred in the short listed individuals during the preliminary stages. He actually did not pass the basic interview at the regional level but had to be forced in to be part of the short listed individuals at the national level because someone said so irrespective of the standards set for the processes.
Today’s world need SMART people to tackle its complex challenges by opening up opportunities that brings about wealth creation at all levels and not stooges like Moses Bavia who’s interest is not just to dance at the whims and caprices of his so called power brokers but also eventually become a national burden by just drawing salary and other benefits associated with occupying the office of the DCE whiles in actual sense doing nothing to bring about transformational challenge to the people. His leadership acumen and integrity is further questioned when the rejected Nominee in a failed attempt recently hired some thugs to disrupt Assembly Sittings organized in Tumu in protest of his rejection. We the young democrats are not surprise of his weak leadership style. To us is just history exposing the true colour of a visionless leader being imposed on us. In 1988 he led students rioting in kanton senior secondary which led to vandalizing and burning of their Assistant Headmasters bungalow and he was dismissed from the school and banned for three years from writing his Ordinary Level Examinations by the West African Examination Council. As a result had to change his named from Moses Hillia to Moses Bavia to illegally sit for the exam; this to us raises questions of integrity and should not be taken lightly especially that this same person is seeking to occupy a reputable public office like that of the DCE. Finally, what broke the proverbial camel’s back is when the rejected nominee may be due disappointment castigated some chiefs and elders of the land for inducing the assembly members with money to influence their decision. This we must say got many chiefs, elders and the assembly members aggrieved.
We wish to also state without fear or favour that we are also aware of the conduit role played by some leading and prominent members of the National Democratic Congress trying to impose an incompetent persons on us. With due respect and humility, Honorable Alhaji Amidu Amin Suleman should rather influence the president on how to assist many unemployed graduates roaming the streets of Accra and beyond in search of jobs and scholarships, Wa – Tumu, Wa – Gwollu, Wa – Funsi roads can be tarred and stop imposing a mug or stooge on the people of the Sissala East District. We are aware of your gargantuan promises to some close allied of yours and the rejected nominee that he would be re- nominated and we assure and promise you that he will be rejected again. We advice you in your own candid interest to withdraw yourself from these selfish, evil and mischievous acts if not….Alhaji we are now tired of your hypocrisy and lies. Because we believe that this second opportunity given to you by God is for you to redeem your image in the eye of the Sissala and please don’t fail yourself and us this time round. Again, we advice Honorable Sulemana Alijata , MP for Sissala East Constituency, to shut her big mouth with her shameful, disrespectful and immaturity in politics. We are reliably informed that she goes about boasting that for Mr. Kale Cezario and Dr. Clement Abass Apaak as presidential staffer in the office of the president, her interest is forever protected we are waiting to see how this interesting times will unfold. We need to emphasize that the president does not need the Member of Parliament for Sissala East to win an election in the Sissala East. From the declared results by the electoral commission during 2012 general election the president had close to six thousand (6,000) votes more than the Member of Parliament. This is a clear reflection that the people repose more confidence in the president than the MP, so the president should not allow those self seeking individuals to drag his name in the mud. The populace have lost hope, confident, respect, dignity and honour in Honorable Alijata Suleman and regret voting for her due to her childish and immaturity in lobbing for an incompetent person like her to be the District Chief Executive for Sissala East District.
We are appealing to the President to institute an independent and much reliable team to research on the much acceptable person for the district and not that type of lousy research conducted by Dr Clement Abass Apaak who claimed to be working to protect the interest of the President but failed to ascertain the truth for reasons better known to him. We are not enthused by Clement Abass Apaak’s modus- oparandi of fact finding mission where he went to sit at a drinking spot popularly called “TANI” and interviewed some three predetermined individuals which he used as a bases for recommending Moses Bavia was quite unfortunate and a complete affront to the reputation of the President. We sincerely believe that a true research will reveal the person that the people are yearning for who will be competent enough to partner the president in delivering the better Ghana agenda.
We in young democrats will like to conclude by humbly appealing to his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to appoint a more competent, affable, disciplined, very popular, respectful, faithful party person, honest, loving, hardworking, creative, versatile and yet appealing to party members and the youth in the constituency. This is the voice of Sissalas. The voice of the people is the voice of God. If the voice of Sissalas is not adhered to, we promise and pledge you Mr. President without any fear or favour that we would continuously be resolute and resist any oppression by demonstrating across the length and breadth of the streets of Tumu to express our heartfelt displeasure. Thank you.
Long live the National Democratic Congress, long Live John Dramani Mahama, and long live Sissala Land. NDC katawie, NDC katawie, NDC Katawie.
