University College Receives ?75m Research Van

THE UNIVERSITY College of Education, Winneba (UCEW) last week received a Damas van valued at ?75 million from Enyidado Industries, local representatives of Daewoo Motors.

The donation is aimed at enhancing research work at the university, Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni, Managing Director of Enyidado, disclosed at a function held at the company's offices in Accra.

He noted that UCEW has been a worthy provider of educators for the development of Ghana's youth.

The university, and all other such educational institutions, therefore, need full support and assistance from the private sector.

Prof. Samuel Quartey, UCEM Vice-Principal, received the donation on behalf of his institution and pledged that the vehicle would be used for the purpose for which it was donated.

He also called for further support for UCEW from other industrialists.

According to him, the vehicle will be used in the area of research, which he referred to as "a major area of studies at UCEW."

Those present at the function included Prof. R. Mamford, Director of UCEW Consultancy Centre; Mr. N. Aryeetey, Registrar and Mr. Walid Zoobi, General Manager of Enyidado Industries.
