Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has admonished Ghanaians to stay calm in the wake of reports of an attempted coup attack.

He added that the military is in total control of the attempted coup spearheaded by Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, and two others.

Lauding the military for exhibiting a high level of professionalism in handling the issue on Citi Breakfast Show, the minister stated that, “they have done a very diligent job and are in full and firm control of the situation. The president is regularly engaging with his ministers, national security advisors and operatives and has full confidence that the military high command,…is in full control of the situation”.

He continued that, “it is for that reason that people are encouraged to go about their business as usual”.

According to Mr Oppong Nkrumah, it was the effort of the military men 15 months ago to bring to bare the plot of the three suspects targeted at the presidency.

The three suspects who are currently standing trial in court are; the proprietor of a medical facility, Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, Ezor Kafui, a local weapon manufacturer, and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu, also known as BB or ADC.

On September 20, 2019, security personnel raided the Citadel hospital in Alajo where six pistols, three smoke grenades, 22 IEDs, two AK47 magazines and one long knife were retrieved after the swoop.

However, three soldiers, according to Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, have also been arrested and assisting in investigations.
