Global Pandemic Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 has brought the whole world to its knees, leaving most leaders helpless. Even leaders of western countries are having sleepless nights despite their well-developed health systems which are adequately equipped to find solutions to difficult problems; indeed they are currently struggling to contain the dreadful COVID-19.
But in Ghana, our leader, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has proven to the entire world that indeed he is a leader who has his citizens at heart.
His approach to combat COVID-19 coupled with well thought through restrictions has been applauded by experts in the country and beyond.
A Listening President and Father of the nation as he is affectional called, after stakeholder consultations directed citizens through the Health Minister to abide by all precautionary measures.
In an honest plea to our Maker, he humbly appealed to all Ghanaians to observe a National Day of Fasting and Prayers and I strongly believe that the combination of the two (physically observation of measures and spiritually praying to God) is working perfectly.
The timely updates by His Excellency, The President is phenomenal and the likes of Information Minister Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Health Minister Hon. Agyemang Manu, Education Minister Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh are all doing exceptionally well in educating the public through the media against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vice President His Excellency Alhaji Bawumiah and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta are also working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the economy afloat despite the prevailing challenges in this unusual times.
The President directed a partial lockdown over the weekend and I think it is working well. The most impressive account being no new case of COVID-19 for past two days since the lockdown.
Again, 31 people whose conditions have improved have now been discharged to self-isolate until they are tested again to confirm an absolute recovery from the deadly pandemic.
What can I say, God has listened to our prayers and I want to use this medium to thank the Church, Islamic Community and all other religions for their prayers. I humbly appeal to them to keep on praying for Ghana and the World until the pandemic seizes. I am overwhelmed by the sacrifice of men and women at the war front (Health workers) for their courage and good work.
I entreat residents of lockdown areas to abide religiously by the rules and regulations. All should stay home, because “if you move you move the COVID-19 Virus, if you stop the virus stops”. Ghanaians should adhere to all precautionary measures. There is no need to panic, stay calm, we should not spread fear too, because compliance to precautionary measures and prayers are working to bring the pandemic under control.
