Ghanaian movie critics should start distribution business – Peter Sedufia

Chief Executive Officer of Oldfilm Productions, Peter Sedufia, has urged critics of the Ghanaian film industry to start a distribution business of locally produced films.

The ‘Keteke’ and the ‘Aloe Vera’ movie Producer and Director mentioned the setbacks and shortfalls of the Ghanaian film space that hindered the industry from gaining grounds or benefiting globally.

One of the setbacks, he stated, was that the film industry lacked distributors to present them globally and not the good films they would or not produce for global recognition.

“Distributors are the legs of every content, no matter how good,” he indicated.

The award-winning writer said as a means of putting an end to the perception most Ghanaian critics have about local filmmakers over the years, creating contents alone was a huge task and posed a challenge to movie critics to start distribution business so they could help the Ghanaian film industry to travel afar.

“Please, don’t ask me to start a distribution business because I’m talking about it. I’m already creating contents, and that’s much work. Now, those who keep trumpeting and bashing filmmakers because their contents don’t travel outside the country should take up that task. Start a distribution business and see the number of good Ghanaian films you’d get to distribute on frequent basis.” Sedufia said

Sedufia urged people to invest more in locally produced contents and producers like himself who are willing to go the extra mile to serve people with quality content.

His work as a director and producer includes award-winning movies like Keteke, Sidechic Gang, Master, 3 Maids, Away Bus – a joint production with Kofas media and Aloe Vera.
