Renowned Actor, Mikky Osei Berko, popularly known as ‘Master Richard’ for his role in ‘Taxi Driver’ has revealed that he sold his only 3-bedroom apartment to study in a film school in Europe.

Mr. Berko made the statement during the 'Resolution Youth Summit'; a conference organized by Goals Foundation at the Ebenezar Presbyterian Church auditorium, Mamprobi.

According to the actor, he realized he could pursue film making about 12 years ago. He felt he needed to learn more about acting and film making and to do that, he had to sacrifice much more to get the funds.

“I am now about to start my acting career because in 2006, I realized that I could add film making, I could do some more,” he said.
“I am now learning more about acting. I am now educating myself some more about acting… We haven’t gotten there yet, so we have to strive for some more... I sold my house to attend a film school in Europe to better equip myself,” he said.

Though some of his friends are unhappy about his choice he said, he knew what he stands to gain ultimately, he saw it as an opportunity to improve his acting and film-making skills and for that reason.

“There are friends who said that ‘you don’t have a house, you have this 3 bedroom house. You want to sell it and go to aburokyi (abroad) for what?’ Yes, I wanted to equip myself some more. I went to study as a film director, so now I can dwell on experience as a film director and direct myself as an actor properly. Is that not a move upwards or a move in skill? You have to commit to learning the things you want to do,” he concluded.
