Nkoranza District Assembly urged to support young musicians

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 15, GNA - Mr Charles Adjei, a 30-year-old electrical welder and a musician from Kranka in the Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo has appealed to the authorities of the Nkoranza District Assembly to allocate some part of the Assembly's Common Fund to support young musicians in the area.

He said youth, who have the flair for music should be supported to enable them unearth their talents in music into reality. Mr Adjei told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that there were a number of musicians in Nkoranza, but lack of financial support continued to prevent them to promote their activities.

He said it needed a lot of money for a musician to produce a cassette of songs containing not less than eight tracks, and implored the Assembly to assist up-and-coming young musicians in the district with the same financial support as given to those in other sporting activities, especially footballers.

It would be recalled that two weeks ago, Mr Adjei launched his first eight- tract gospel cassette album with the title "Mahunu Nyame, literally meaning I have come in contact with the Almighty God.

Mr Adjei announced that he has managed to come out with a second cassette album containing 10 tracts, entitled "Kae Dee Onyame Aye" (literally meaning 'Remember the good works of God') and hoped to launch it by the end of August, this year at Nkoranza.

He expressed gratefulness to Mr Charles Ofori, also a musician, whom he described as "a close friend" for offering support and joining him in producing cassettes at musical studios.

Mr Adjei extended his appeal to individual citizens, philanthropists and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to assist him either financially or in kind to enable him successfully launch his second album at the end of this month (August).
