Celebrate Valentine’s Day with made in Ghana chocolate – Tourism Minister appeals to Ghanaians

Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi has urged Ghanaians to patronise locally produced chocolate.

Speaking at the media launch of the 2020 edition of the National Chocolate Day celebrations in Accra, Barbara Oteng Gyasi noted that consumption of the locally made chocolate impacts positively on the chocolate producing industry and the economy as a whole.

She encouraged Ghanaians to demonstrate love and care to one another, particularly the needy.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, in the spirit of the occasion, I would like to urge each and every one to patronize our Made in Ghana chocolate and especially use chocolate as a gift of love to our friends, families and loved ones during the National Chocolate Day Celebration”.

The 2020 National Chocolate Day which will be observed at the Alisa Hotel on February 14 is under the theme “My chocolate experience”, my wholistic wellbeing”.

The event seeks to enhance patronage of locally-made chocolate and also “position cocoa and the chocolate experience as a strong element of the Ghana tourism experience”.

The celebrations will be commenced with a Digital Campaign Competition where contestants will post a picture of themselves enjoying chocolate or any product produced with chocolate at a hospitality establishment on social media and tag the Ghana Tourism Authority with the hashtag #MyChocolateExperience#ChocolateDay2020#EatGhana. Winners of this competition will be awarded on 14th February, 2020.

Other activities of the celebration include: A Cocoa Art Competition starting on Monday, 10th February, 2020, where artists submit a painting depicting the COCOA Story, to the Accra Tourist Information Center. Winners for this competition will also be awarded on the 14th of February, 2020. There will also be MY CHOCOLATE EXPERIENCE at the Cocoa Clinic on Wednesday, 12th February, 2020 where chocolate and other cocoa products will be shared to the patients and staff.
