How the fight between ‘hippo’ Sista Afia and ‘sexy skeleton’ Efia Odo went down

On a busy weekend which saw romantic National Security minister Kan Dapaah truncate the buzz budding artiste Bosom PYung earned with his ‘Ataa Adwoa’ song, as well as the fuss around the supposed breakup between rapper Medikal and actress Fella Makafui, two of Ghana’s female showbiz personalities, born on a Friday, were at war.

Slim Efia Odo, formerly of Kwese TV and curvaceous singer Sista Afia were at each other’s throats, causing a stir on Twitter with many tweeps throwing jabs at either one of these celebrities or both for various reasons.

Efia Odo had in a video clip lambasted persons who attacked her over her fashion sense, describing her critics as fools.

While stating emphatically that it is not anyone’s business if she decides to strip naked, Efia Odo mentioned that she is least perturbed about the salvos of criticisms thrown at her.

“No matter what you guys say about me, no matter how many names you call me, I don’t care. I know who I am. The way I dress does not define who I am. My clothes don’t define me. I can dress as far as classy fuck and can be a whore. Ghanaians are fools. You guys are looking at me and calling me all sort of names and you go to church on Sunday and ask the Lord to bless your soul. You are hypocrites!

“Even if I will show my pussy to the world, how does that concern you? Why are you so concerned about somebody’s life?” a puzzled Efia Odo asked.

But her rants, according to Sista Afia was completely needless. She posited that if indeed Efia Odo is unfazed by the name calling, she would not have wasted her resources to record a video in response to the backlash.

“How do you say you don’t care what people say about you, but you come on social media and address what has been said about you. Face it. You care!” the musician tweeted, attracting a reply from the TV personality as she said: “Emelia Brobbey even blow pass you, focus on your music madame hippo.”

It however did not end there. It was indeed the genesis of a brawl.

Sista Afia, in her bid to neutralize Efia Odo’s dig at her, uploaded a video clip which captured the latter dance to her song ‘Weather’, a defense Efia Odo somewhat foiled.

"If they’re playing your song on national TV, should I sit and pretend like I don’t like it, and look like a hater? Nah boo. I ain’t a hater. You got two or three nice songs I fuck with, like I said I ain’t gotta fuck with you to like your music, no cap.

“I can like your song and not give a fuck about you. Soo many times I’ve gone on live and purposely played your song like 'weather'. You stayyyy coming for me and I ain’t even call you. Fella and I had an issue, you jumped in. I made a video yesterday, you jumped in. You went on 4syte.”

Nullifying the claim that she has been hitting on Efia Odo, Sista Afia apportioned blame, stressing that she never initiated any attack.

She said: “You attacked me the first and I wasn’t expecting that from you cos I loved your personality from afar, you made me want to fight you remember that I don’t hate you too! Just that it hurt my feelings I was just a girl coming up in this industry and that from you I was disappointed.”

At this juncture, the curtain on the war of words was drawn down as Efia Odo rendered an unqualified apology to Sista Afia.

“That was 6 years ago and trust me it was all jokes. I had no idea who you were to be honest. It was just petty jokes on my snap didn’t even know you. Like I said if I dead ass got you that upset then I apologize cuz it wasn’t done maliciously.

"They ain’t even ask you a question about me but you still managed to bring my name in it. I like two of your songs don’t mean I hate you woman! If I ever offended you, I apologize. Trust me, I ain’t a hater or a fighter I’m a lover. Bless up woman,” her tweet read.

Interestingly, Sista Afia who was body-shamed accepted the apology and also apologized to Efia Odo but asked her to instruct her fans not to refer to her as ‘hippo’.

“I apologize too if I’ve also offended you. I mean it’s all love. Pleass don’t let your fans call me “Hippo” again or I will release a whole EP titled sexy skeleton.”

The admonition was done but in a humorous manner.

“Hey guys, y’all stop calling Sista Afia a hippo please. We have come to common grounds to be cordial. So please no more name calling, but me dier I don’t mind the sexy Skeleton, I kinda like it,” Efia Odo said.
