Actor and comedian Kevin Hart once said ‘laughter heals all wounds, and that's one thing that everybody shares. No matter what you're going through, it makes you forget about your problems. I think the world should keep laughing.”

That saying encapsulates the importance of laughter not only from the fun side but also the health aspect.

Aside from its core duty of spreading the word of salvation and prosperity, the church also has a role to play in the physical wellbeing of its members and some pastors have perfected the act of marrying the gospel with comedy to enable their members to enjoy the benefits mentioned in Kevin Hart’s quote.

There is no standard or laid out rule for preaching but whiles some pastors prefer to share the word as it appears in the bible and with all seriousness, others have found a comical way of sending the message across.

If you like your biblical teaching with a side of hilarity, then you will forever stay stuck to these funny Ghanaian preachers whose activities www.ghanaweb.com has chronicled below.

Rev. Obofour

When you hear that Reverend Obofour once pursued a career in comedy, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. From his hilarious sendups, and musical talents, it is easy to forget that the preacher is delivering a sermon when his audience starts breaking out into fits of laughter.

Call him “Mr. I care less” and he will cherish you forever. He is one of the most loyal Shatta Movement fans who go to the extreme of performing a Shatta song live on TV when he is preaching to his congregation.

According to him, most gospel musicians are fake and people who sing secular songs should be appreciated more.

While the senior pastor of Anointed Palace Chapel knows when to get serious about the word of God, those who listen to the pastor know that they can expect to have a good time in the presence of the Lord when listening to him preach.

Apostle Okoh Agyamang

If you don’t laugh when watching Pastor Okoh Agyemang, there’s a good chance that you will at least crack a smile. The assistant Apostle of the Seventh-Day Sabbath Church of Christ is not afraid of telling embarrassing stories about “evil doers” and staging a hilarious play to back it.

While the pastor is known to translate the word of God with his own comedic idioms, his delivery does not lose focus of the meat of the messages found in scripture.

Prophet Opambour

Opambour eeei, takes the gospel seriously, but he has a light-hearted approach when spreading the good news to the world. The General Overseer of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, Rev Opambour, also known as Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom expresses himself in a passionate way when teaching the word of God and often jabs when you cross him.

While some sermons from Opambour lean more heavily on comedy than others, the pastor’s naturally humorous personality always manages to shine through his messages.

Prophet Kumchacha

Prophet Kumchacha has a mirthful and dynamic energy that would translate well at most comedy clubs in Ghana. Since he uses his gifts for the Lord, the preacher mixes his seemingly naturally funny character with Biblical stories.

Even though he claims to have never been to school, the founder and leader of the Heaven's Gate Ministry, breaks scriptures down in the local language in a way that is both relatable and hilarious. While he often pairs funny commentary with scriptures, the amount of passion that the preacher speaks with also keep his audience engaged and listening to his every word.

Obinim

Bishop Daniel Obinim is a high energy preacher who is not afraid to yell at his congregants or lash them for wrongdoing. The blunt preacher knows how to engage with his audience in a way that has them laughing, shouting, singing and crying within minutes.

When he is not pressing his wife butts on tour, Obinim is always seen in trending videos picking on his fellow pastors or bragging about his wealth.

Prophet Kofi Oduro

Listening and watching prophet Kofi Oduro’s preaching is like having a private conversation with a comical friend. The self-acclaimed married councilor is relatable in his delivery and has mastered the art of matching a healthy dose of humor and exegetical examination of biblical stories.

The leader and founder of the Alabaster International Ministries, has the ability for keeping his congregants entertained with a great story. He uses popular colloquialisms like “God will judge you” in his sermons often and has an understated comedic edge that compliments his unique preaching flair.
