Stunts have been part of most entertainment industries in the world with movie production houses, record labels and personalities using all forms of “gimmicks” to generate attention.

In the Ghanaian entertainment industry which is attention-driven, a well-executed publicity stunt by celebrities can increase brand recognition and slay the competition.

In essence, it has long been a marketing staple for brands that need the kind of attention money simply cannot buy.

Whiles stating that some of these “crazy antics” are part of show business as it helps careers soar, it must also be noted that not all of such stunts have yielded positive results as some have shattered the prospects of personalities and brands, all due to their lack of proper planning and execution.

Not forgetting, it can also forever align a brand with negative images, lawsuits, and public mistrust.

WISA GREID's PENIS EXPOSURE IN 2015

The young budding artiste exposed his genitals on stage at a concert whiles performing at Citi FM’s Decemba 2 Rememba concert in 2015 after which he was dragged to court by the organizers of the event.

During a cross-examination session in one of the court hearings, the ‘ekikimi’ hitmaker who admitted to showing his penis on stage told the Accra Circuit Court he pulled the act to boost his popularity.

VICTORIA LEBENE AND ADJORLOLO’s RELATIONSHIP

Okay FM presenter, Abeiku Santana, recently stated in an interview that Victoria Lebene’s alleged relationship with veteran actor, Kofi Adjorlolo was a publicity stunt.

The radio and TV personality disclosed that the stunt was purposely orchestrated by himself, Counsellor Lutterodt and his others to project Victoria into the limelight.

Victoria Lebene Mekpah’s popularity “shot up” following her supposed affair with Kofi Adjorlolo which sparked criticisms from the public for dating the veteran actor, who is old enough to be her father.

WENDY SHAY’S PUBLICITY STUNT TO PROMOTE HER MUSIC

Mostly orchestrated by the C.E.O, himself (Bullet), there's always a deliberate drama happening in the camp of Ruftown Record label to promote their artiste, Wendy Shay.

Countless times, they have “fooled” the public with back-to-back attention-grabbing stunts to promote their works and the artiste, Wendy Shay.

Recently, in a quest to promote a song titled ‘Ghana Boys’, the Ghanaian singer who doubles as a trained nurse pulled a prank to announce her decision to quit music and focus on nursing.

To that effect, Wendy Shay in a post on her Instagram page shared a photo of her in a nurse uniform with a colleague in Germany, thanking her manager, Bullet and everyone who has supported her music career.

Another instance was an audio recording in which it was alleged that Bullet, manager of Wendy Shay had been caught in bed with her, all in an attempt to release a song titled “The boy is mine”.
