Mobile Phones Turns Out Be 'Pure Water'

A young-man suspected to be a member of a ?419? gang operating from Abeka-Lapaz near Accra, has been arrested by the Amasaman police as he attempted to dupe a lady with a neatly wrapped ?ecolag? bag containing 21 pieces of sachet water, supposed to have been shipped from Italy.

Hayford Yeboah and his gang managed to convince their victim Ama Korang of Akwatia, that a relative of hers residing in Italy whose name is Yaw Richard has sent her the bag which allegedly contained 80 different types of newly manufactured mobile phones.

According to Ama Korang, after Yaw Richard had failed to convince her to pay an amount of ?63million to him to enable him to supposedly ship two cars to her from Italy, the group decided to use an alternative means to dupe her.

This time Yaw Richard who claimed to calling from Italy told Ama he was sending her the bag containing 80 mobile phones which totalled about 650 euros. And she was to pay the cedi equivalent of about ?7milion to Hayford. Ama then sensed something fictitious about the whole deal and notified the police who mapped out a strategy through which Hayford was arrested.
