Omanyeaba Dance Ensemble captivated audiences .....

...at the Dutch Hotel in Nungua, Accra Ghana

Accra. 14th March 2005 - The drummer musicians and the colorfully clad dancers of the Omanyeaba Dance Ensemble captivated audiences at the porch Dutch Hotel in Nungua, Accra on Saturday 12th March 2005.

Omanyeaba Dance Ensemble is a sister organisation to Cultural & Academic Travel Organisation (CATO) and offers African dance and drumming classes and other cultural enrichment activities to teens and adults, international students at Teshie Nungua.

The dancers of Omanyeaba are fast, so-well rehearsed that the assorted body types and backgrounds of the dancers merge as one united ensemble at their performance at the beach side Hotel. Their youthful exuberance is backed up with their impressive stylist performance.

In an interview with the band, the bandleader, Richter Adotey said, Omanyeaba dance ensemble isn?t about the dancers and drummers, It?s about the audience. He said the performances at the Porch Dutch Hotel was focused on conveying a message of unity among all people of Ghana. ?Our dances depicts the birth and unity of all people as Ghanaians and emphasized the significance of maintaining this unity in order to become one people.?

Their performances through live drumming and music showcased combined dances of Senegalese, Ghanaian, Guinea and many other forms of African dance.

The Manager of the 12 member dance band, Mr. Senyo Kpelly said one of the missions of the dance company will be to bridge the cultural differences in the world and foster an international appreciation of African dance in all its forms. ?Omanyeaba Dance Ensemble is dedicated to the preservation of African and African rooted cultures through dance, music and song? said the Band Manager.
