Ghana holds Trade Exhibition and Fashion Show in Addis Ababa

Wide -range of products manufactured in Ghana have gone on display at a special trade exhibition to mark the 62nd Anniversary of Ghana’s Independence in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The two-day event showcased assorted beverages and liquor from Kasapreko Company and GIHOC Distilleries, Cocoa products from Cocoa Processing Company Ltd and Niche Cocoa and locally-designed clothing by three of Ghana’s best Fashion Designers; Wear Ghana, Reene and Rowena Creations.

Wear Ghana exhibited the popular “GIGI” unisex collection with options for men and women, the 6-year old company saw an impressive patronage of its 3-year-old brand by many foreign nationals.

Reene and Rowena Creations showcased exquisite designs made of African and Ghanaian prints and like Wear Ghana, their collections, mainly female wears were heavily patronised.

The collections of the three exhibitors were paraded in a two-hour fashion show which climaxed the exhibition.

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority also showcased services they offer to facilitate trade and investment in Ghana.

Among the large guests were the Vice Chair of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, Zimbabwe Honorary Tourism Ambassador, Ambassador Nancy Sam, visiting Chairman of the National Executive Council of the Chamber of Pharmacy – Ghana, Mr Harrison Kofi Abutiate and the diplomatic community in Addis Ababa.

The event was organised by the Ghana Embassy in Ethiopia, and the Ministries of Trade and Industry and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration with support from Ethiopian Airways.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Mrs. Amma Twum-Amoah was impressed with turnout and patronage and promised regular organisation of such trade events to deepen the already cordial relationship between Ghana and Ethiopia.

She said since 1959 when the two countries established official diplomatic ties, both countries have benefitted immensely.

She hinted of plans by Ghana to open a Ghana Shop in Addis Ababa to promote made-in-Ghana products and services.
