TV Africa suspends all programs, as close down looms

Exclusive information reaching Asembi.com indicates that almost all programs and on-air activities on local television station TV Africa have come to a halt upon orders from management.

According to reports from within the organisation, producers at the media house were asked to temporary suspend their programs as management tries to restructure and solve some of the challenges facing the media house.

Even though management did not give a concrete reason for the suspension of the programs, we are reliably informed that the decision was due to financial challenges faced by the station.

This may, however, come as no surprise to the public as news of financial constraints facing the media company first came to light about two weeks ago when executive manager Shirley Frimpong-Manso resigned due the inability of the station to raise funds to carry out its programs and also pay workers.

TV Africa was acquired by Ideal Groupe in 2016 after its original owners headed by Kwaw Ansah had put it up for sale over lack of funds to run the station.

Ideal Groupe embarked on an intensive rebranding campaign that saw it acquire the services of top media personalities like actress Nikki Samonas, movie producer, Shirley Frimpong-Manso and journalist Obuobia Darko.

However two years after the acquisition, things seem not to have worked out as wished, with the station on the verge of a close down if the fortunes of the station do not change in the near future.
