Reggae band ‘Third World’ pledges to support Ghanaian artists

Jamaica’s widely acclaimed reggae band, Third World has pledged to support and inspire young artists in Ghana.

They made the pledge on Monday during their encounter with some artists and music lovers at the Dubois Centre in Accra.

Mr Ernest Kelly, Producer of Third World band, said the objective of the event was to show Ghanaians what international artists can do to support the local artists and also to inspire those in the entertainment industry to excel in their career.

He said the team is planning to organize a music festival to develop young artists and to create an international platform for the artists.

The festival, which would take place in June 2019, seeks to bridge cultures all over the world and to project Africa as the land of music.

Mr Alvin Brown, a member of the band, said the band is eager to share experiences with artists and music lovers in the country, adding: “our music easily identifies with anybody from every race with danceable tunes”.

Third World band is one of the oldest reggae bands of all time and one of Jamaica’s most consistently popular crossover arts among international audiences.

The band was formed in 1973 and it is well-known in producing music in the Reggae, Disco, Ska and Funk genres.
