There was outrage when the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list dropped, there was only one Ghanaian musician Sarkodie and whiles no one can dispute Obidi’s presence on the list, we are entitled to ask why we did not have more entries.

We are entitled to ask why we did not have more entries, the likes of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale spring to mind. Stonebwoy has recently stated that he was contacted by the compilers but as to why he did not feature in the final list, he doesn’t know.

Stonebwoy has revealed that he was considered for Forbes’ list of 30 young game changers in Africa. The dancehall act told Jessica Opare-Saforo on Citi FM’s ‘Taffic Avenue’ that somebody from Forbes Africa asked him to send his particulars for the project. He said he did not hear from him again even after he had sent information.

“We got message and everything, we got selected but I did not hear from them again,” he said.

According to the message sent to him from the Forbes Africa official, his name was recommended and he was being considered for the list. The 2018 Forbes Africa 30 under 30 which was recently released, has Ghana’s rap maestro, Sarkodie – the only Ghanaian who made it to the list.

The list was compiled across different industries including music, art, media, film and fashion. Nigeria, had nine showbiz personalities in the list: Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, Falz and others.

The 2018 Forbes Africa Under 30 is a list of Africa’s most promising young change-makers. The 30 people are game-changers, all under the age of 30, in each the three sectors – business, technology and creative arts.

According to Forbes Africa: “we put in months of rigorous research, sifting through over 600 nominations, vetting them for weeks, verifying and investigating them.”

Stonebwoy will be performing at the 2018 Ghana Meets Naija concert scheduled for Saturday, 9th June, 2018 at the Fantasy Dome in Accra.
