Self-acclaimed godmother of Ghanaian dancehall, Shegah, says Ghanaians do not appreciate her contributions to the music industry.

According to her, unlike Ghana, where is barely regarded, she is currently getting a lot of attention in the United Kingdom.

Formerly known as Shegeh Styler, the artiste resurfaced onto the music scene in 2016 after years of absence.

She rebranded after signing onto Magic Records and preferred to be known simply as Shegah.

The dancehall act released a few songs, including ‘Murdur’ which featured Samini, which were initially getting airplay. She shortly left the country after the release of those songs.

In an interview on JoyNews’ ‘Let’s Talk Entertainment’ with Doreen Avio, Shegah reveals that she has been out of the country promoting her works because she believes that Ghanaians do not appreciate her music.

Shegah claimed that after a month of promotion in London, she earned the number six spot in the London Reggae Chart with her latest single titled ‘Marking Time’.

“Ghanaians never really appreciate my work that much but just a month doing a promo in London and I’m on the chart, that should tell you that maybe my star will shine out there,” she said.
