The 19th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which was held last week, was plagued with several controversies.

Patapaa was infamously robbed of the Most Popular Song of the Year award and social media couldn’t keep quiet over it.

In the gospel arena, popular gospel musician, Patience Nyarko was so outraged when she lost the Gospel Song of the Year award to Joe Mettle.

She consequently questioned the scheme’s credibility, to the extent that she said TV3’s popular reality show, Mentor was far better than the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

“I was clearly robbed… I think TV3’s Mentor programme is very credible than the VGMA,” she was quoted to have said on Power FM.

But George Quaye, Head of Communication at Charterhouse, has reacted sarcastically to the claim by suggesting to the artiste to consider featuring in the next edition of Mentor reality show.

“It’s her opinion… I didn’t know Patience Nyarko was interested in participating in Mentor, may be TV3 should consider putting her on and I’m sure she would make a good contestant” he said on the ‘After Hours’ show hosted by Mikki Osei Berko.

Joe Mettle’s ‘Bo Noo Ni’ was adjudged Gospel Song of the Year, which according to many observers, was flawed.

Even Joe Mettle himself admitted Patience Nyarko’s ‘Obi Nnyane Me’ was more popular than his song under the year in review.
