The much anticipated 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) has been mirrored in the social media sphere of Ghana prior to its commencement at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The hashtag #VGMA2018 out of the 20 trendy topics comes at number one as Ghana celebrates her artistes on the big night today, April 14, 2018.

With this year’s edition which is currently underway, music lovers and entertainment enthusiasts following proceedings online are expecting to witness, awesome mix of music, spectacular performances, great sound, improved lightening systems and “fair” in awarding deserving artistes who have worked hard in the year under review.

The theme for the 19th edition of the event is “Our Music Beyond Borders”.

Sponsored by telecommunication giants Vodafone, and organized by Charterhouse Ghana, the Ghana Music Awards is an award scheme designed to recognize, celebrate the hard work and dedication of various stakeholders and players in the entertainment industry.

The awards ceremony which is expected to attract a large number of stakeholders in the creative arts industry in Ghana and Nigeria in the last couple of years, the highlight of the night has been who wins the much-coveted category – Artiste of the Year.

And Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, the late Ebony, rapper Sarkodie and Joe Mettle are all up for the coveted artiste of the year award.

Ebony has been tipped by industry to most likely win Artiste of the year despite her untimely passing early this year.

The event is been hosted by popular Ghanaian actor John Dumelo and TV/Radio personality Berla Mundi.
